The First Night - Part 2
Please read the first part if you haven’t already. Kavya eagerly waits for Rohan to come home, excited to tell him the news. Just as she responds to the doorbell and Rohan enters the house, Kavya says, “Do you remember I spoke to you about my best friend, Amina?” Rohan smiles and says, “Your childhood friend. She was blessed with a baby girl three months back, around the same time we got married.” Kavya continues, “Yes. She’s back from her parent’s house, and she’s in town. I told her I wanted to visit her. But she said no. It seems her husband decided that they were relocating to Canada, and he will be leaving for Canada this weekend. He’ll settle first and then take them there. Her parents left for Saudi to be with her sister for a few weeks. Since she’ll be with a newborn baby all alone, I told her she can live with us till her parents are back. But I’m sorry I didn’t ask you before I told her.” Rohan cuts her and says, “This is your house. You don’t have to ask me. The only thing I want is that our time together should not be compromised.” She feels so proud of having someone like him as her life partner. “When will they come?” he inquires. “Friday,” Kavya responds. When Rohan walks into the house on Friday evening, he sees Kavya chatting with a lady in their living room and guesses that to be Amina. They exchange pleasantries and have dinner. Kavya says that she’d like to sleep in the guest room with her friend for today as she wants to catch up on stuff. The next morning, Kavya enters the bedroom, where Rohan is sleeping with their usual dose of morning coffee. Rohan quips, “Looks like you guys were up all night.” Kavya nods and says, “Amina is having a peculiar problem.” Rohan looks at her with a question mark on his face. “She’s lactating more milk than her baby can consume. As a result, her breasts are becoming heavier and painful. She was struggling all night,” Kavya continues. “Gosh! What all are you talking to me?” Rohan playfully teases her. He’s pleased with the fact that his wife feels totally comfortable discussing everything with him. Kavya gently smacks him on his shoulder and says, “Shut up and listen. It seems she’d feel better if she drained out the excess milk after her baby is fed. But the process of manually doing it or using the breast pump is making her sore. The entire night, we were trying out things to make her feel comfortable so we could sleep, but nothing worked.” “Ok,” Rohan says indicating her to continue. “It seems she felt better when her hubby sucked her breasts during the foreplay, even though he did that briefly,” Kavya pauses. Rohan feels a bit uncomfortable with the amount of detail that Kavya is sharing about Amina. Kavya continues, “So, I was thinking if you could help…” and looks at him. “Are you out of your mind? Do you even understand what you’re saying? How can you even think of this?” Rohan instantly shouts and tries to get up and walk away. Kavya holds his hand, stops him and says, “Baby, I know it’s not appropriate. But try to understand the trust and love I have for you that is making me ask this. Also, as you know, Amina is a very good friend. I promise it won’t spoil our relationship.” “On the contrary, my respect and love for you would only increase. You’re doing something just because I’m asking, even though it is against the immense love you have for me.” While Rohan calms a bit, he still can’t digest this, “All that is fine, but I can’t do it. It’s not being faithful to my love. It’s cheating.” “It’s not. I’m asking you to do it. I’m fully aware of this, so how can it be cheating? Besides, I know your love for me is more than I can imagine,” Kavya replies. “No,” Rohan says, as he doesn’t want to do it but runs out of reasons. “Please,” Kavya pleads. He doesn’t know how else to change her thoughts, so he says, “Let’s say I agree and I do it. What if it goes beyond that, and I end up having sex with her?” “Given the situation, it’s understandable, and I’m ok with that,” Kavya casually responds. “But it’s so embarrassing to face her after this. Given she’s your friend, we’ll be meeting often.” Kavya says, “They’re relocating to Canada. So that won’t be an issue.” She seemed to have thought it through. Rohan thinks and gives one last try to see if that works. “I’m sure Amina won’t agree to this,” he says confidently. “Why do you think we didn’t sleep last night? I was convincing her. Thank you for agreeing, baby. You’re a real sweetheart. So here’s the plan. If I’m around, you both would be uncomfortable. So, I’ll go out for 4 hours after having breakfast, and you can do it. Remember, she’s very embarrassed and shy. So you’ve to approach first.” Rohan is totally lost at the turn of events. At the breakfast table, Rohan and Amina are completely silent. They aren’t even making eye contact. Kavya tries to make some small talk, but they only respond in monosyllable. Before they realise it, they find themselves in the home all by themselves. As Kavya leaves, Rohan goes into his room, and Amina goes into the guest room. Amina feeds the baby, puts her to sleep and sits on the bed thinking about all this. She’s still in two minds and is very embarrassed. In the other room, Rohan doesn’t want to take the lead. He wants to while away the time so that it doesn’t happen. After a few minutes, Amina feels that her breasts are becoming heavier and painful. She’s increasingly wanting to break the ice and approach Rohan as the pain is increasing. She can’t take the pain anymore and walks out of the room and knocks Rohan’s room. Rohan knows it’s Amina. He opens the door and says, “Hi.” Amina doesn’t know what to say. She waits for a few seconds and then says, “It’s really painful.” Rohan moves aside and says, “Please come in.” Amina says, “Shall we go to the guest room? Just in case the baby wakes up?” She walks to the guest room without waiting for him. As Rohan follows Amina, he sees her for the first time.
